Rider-Waite Playing Card Deck
The Rider-Waite Playing Card Deck, created by Paula M. Palmer; originally created by William Rider, Arthur Waite, and Pamela Colman Smith, art by Smith
The original Smith-Waite Tarot deck is probably the most popular Tarot deck in the Western world, and from it so many other decks have descended. Here, that original deck is reframed as playing cards. This makes the images on the cards more easily accessible and just a bit more playful. The Minor Arcana are more explicitly presented as card suits, while the Major Arcana are now presented as a combination of all four suits. In the Court cards, Kings and Queens remain as they are while the Pages take the obvious roles of the Jacks. The most fascinating change is that of the Knights becoming Jokers.
